About

Its basic objective is to help those affected regain control and cope with what has happened to them with the fewest possible lasting effects. Psychological first aid can be used in critical and stressful situations of daily life, in what we call everyday emergencies, such as traffic accidents, assaults, evacuations, and sudden deaths, which are much more frequent. This course will equip you to apply psychological first aid in both everyday emergencies and community and mass casualty incidents. Psychological First Aid (PFA) Course Syllabus MODULE 1: Definition and Application Conditions: What is Psychological First Aid and what is it used for? Who, when, where, and how is PFA applied? What to do and what not to do? Practical applications of PFA. MODULE 2: PFA in Children up to 12 Years Old Relevant developmental aspects in situations of heightened stress. Protective and risk factors in the management of critical incidents. How to involve the family in the application of PFA. MODULE 3: PFA in Adolescents and Adults Characteristics and special needs of adolescents in situations of heightened stress. How to involve adolescents in their self-care and emotional management. What is the role of the family with adolescent children? Reaction patterns of adults in situations of heightened stress. Risk and protective factors in adolescents and adults. The importance of managing activation levels for the prevention of post-traumatic stress. MODULE 4: PAP in particularly vulnerable groups Characteristics of particularly vulnerable groups (people with sensory, physical, and mental disabilities). Individuals and families facing multiple challenges. Individuals and families affected by previous losses and crises. MODULE 5: Self-care for responders What are self-care guidelines and what are they for? Deactivation protocols after interventions. What is the expected outcome after a critical incident? Techniques for managing one's own stress
