As part of the Medical Team, the organizers of TCC 2017 will once again provide a ‘Foot Clinic’.

The clinic will be available to racers each day at the camps. They are there to provide advice and treatments for the more serious foot problems. It is expected that participants will look after minor foot issues themselves.

If you need the services of the ‘foot clinic’, it will be beneficial if you follow these advice:

  • While resting – Elevate your feet.

  • The team will be available to advise and treat more serious foot issues.

  • When attending a team member, bring your first aid kit.

  • Your feet must be clean and dry.

  • Bring socks that you are going to wear next day. These will be applied over any dressings. You must wear these overnight to keep the dressings in place for next days racing.

  • In camp you should wear flip flop sandals or equivalent to avoid foot injuries.

  • Bring fluids to the clinic to ensure you can re-hydrate while waiting to be seen.

  • If you are using massage/physiotherapy services, which are on site and also require ‘foot’ treatment please advise them. It is important that you do not have oils applied to the feet. Skin must be dry for dressings to adhere to the foot.

  • Prevention is better than cure.  Treat your foot problems early. The Red Cross will be manning first aid stations on the course.

  • You will be advised not to remove our dressings even while showering. At the camps, allow the dressings to dry, then come and see us. We apply dressings so they will stay on for a few days. Removing them causes more tissue damage. We will reinforce the original dressings if possible.

  • Please note – in multi-day races COMPEED should only be used in extreme emergencies.  We are unable to remove it to treat the underlying issues without causing further tissue damage.

  • We operate a ‘First come first served’ policy at the camps.

  • The medical teams main aim is to get you to the finish line safely. We will support you accordingly. The team has been providing Medical cover for the race for many years and will be happy to advise you on issues you may have.
