BEFORE:
1. Eat and drink as usual. The days before and on the day of the event are not the time to try new foods.
2. Swimming in a group can be a little uncomfortable at first. Weeks before the event, we recommend swimming with groups of friends, either in open water or in a pool, to get used to the sensation.
3. When swimming in open water, there are no fixed lines to follow. So practice looking ahead and into the distance when you breathe and are training in the pool.
4. If you feel sick or injured before the event. Consult your doctor or event medical director.
5. You must be very clear about the route to follow, as well as all the directions along the way.
6. Always attend the technical talks at the event. It is better to understand everything very well than to be doubting the characteristics of the event.
AFTER:
1. Hydration and replenishing your invested energy is paramount
2. Review and take note of what you could improve in the way you competed
3. Share with other competitors. In the end, the best thing about sporting events is the people who attend them.
4. If you enjoyed the event, tell the event organizer and his staff. They work to make your experience safe and successful.
